Seeing Minds Through Problems.
Maths as Telepathy....
I should be submitting assignments, instead I slowly open a new post, scrambling to write down thoughts before they disappear, scribbles that feel more urgent than the problem itself. Somehow, in these fleeting notes, I find a rhythm, a connection, a way to see not just the numbers, but the minds that shaped them, the hidden conversations of logic across time.
Why math? It’s tempting to give the simple answers…. I love it, it keeps my mind alert, up and running, it challenges me. Bland eh?
[Before I indulge you in my musings, how bout we see a reader as a practitioner whose profession is probing into minds, hearts, and sacred thoughts? …Good , now shall we?]
As a seasoned reader, I seem to find math something closer to telepathy or better yet a form of telepathy. Strange, you might sigh, i would too.
Take a seat and see math from a literacy lens, how it is a quiet entrance into a consciousness elsewhere, a room that exists somewhere between logic and intuition, where you and I can follow the traces of someone else’s reasoning, seeing its logic unfold, its hesitations, its leaps, without ever meeting them.
What fascinates me is the intimacy of it. Minds converse silently through symbols, digits, and patterns. I have seen a classmate tackle the same problem I struggled with, and I am thrilled not by comparison, but by the different shape their reasoning takes. There is empathy in tracing someone else’s logic, in recognizing their ingenuity or patience. Math becomes a bridge, a medium in which intellect and humanity meet, where the abstract reflects the personal in ways words cannot capture.
I find it oddly satisfying and strangely intimate to watch a mind approach a problem. I will not remember the mole on your chin, the wrinkles that gather when you smile, or the ritual of your coffee. Yet through numbers and symbols, I enter something deeper: a realm that, using only ten digits and a handful of signs, unfolds the architecture of thought itself. Each equation, each proof, each elegant misstep, is a window into a consciousness I cannot otherwise touch.
In watching another’s reasoning, I feel the tension and exhilaration they must have felt, the satisfaction of a clever turn, the frustration of a dead end. It is, in a way, witnessing a soul at work , not in sentiment, but in structure, in logic, in the careful ordering of thought.
Math, then, becomes more than a subject. It is a place where curiosity and discipline meet, a medium through which I can explore minds without intrusion, a lens into the infinite ways humans navigate uncertainty. There is a rhythm to it, a quiet joy in tracing ideas from inception to conclusion, and a profound satisfaction in understanding the mind behind them, even briefly. It reminds me that intelligence is not merely the possession of facts, but the journey through thought itself, and that the most intimate encounters can be entirely silent.
I told my professor in jest that Math is a house with many windows , some let you spy on brilliance some let in cold drafts, and some just smash your face against the glass.
I mean that definitely covers my love-hate relationship with it, or atleast comically so.
It is not knowledge alone that fascinates me. It is the uncanny proximity of another’s mind, the way abstract symbols can carry intention, struggle, creativity , a quiet reflection of the human spirit. In this, math becomes almost alive, a medium through which minds converse across time, across solitude, across the invisible walls that separate us. There is a strange intimacy here: a dialogue without words, a shared world constructed from logic, tension, and discovery…….in that silent communion, I find a rare, invigorating joy: the uncanny pleasure of touching thought itself.
Perhaps am now seeing maths as a way to go in and out of minds , thought processes and MOA of intuitions…..No strings attached.

I wonder if this is how math teachers feel
Reading this during maths class instead of completing my exercises 💔
